Call for Volksmarch Volunteers
To put on a successful volksmarch takes
countless hours of preparation, lots of money, and considerable time, energy
and commitment from scores of volunteers. A committee of chairpersons is the
guiding force behind the planning and operation of our event. Following is a
list of committees required for our volksmarch in
September. If you would volunteer to chair one of these committees or serve as
a volunteer on a committee, please contact the committee chairperson or the Volksmarch Chairman,

Boutique |
Help with sales of Club clothing and
memorabilia under the direction of boutique manager. |
|
Check Points |
Plan and carry out all set-up, logistical and operational aspects of running the check
points along the route to include food and drink preparation and sales at the
check points, start card stamping and providing information to walkers. |
|
Clean-up |
Clean the school after the Volksmarch, help pack and return left-over supplies to
the CONEX (on PHV) and warehouse (on Tompkins Barracks) and return vehicles
to Auto Jonker parking lot. |

Coffee & Kuchen
Table |
Coordinate the coffee bar, store and
receive all baked goods donated by members and bakers. Staff booth, sell
goods and have a supply of free coffee for IVV workers as early as 0600
hours. |

Drinks |
Staff and operate the beverage
service booth at the start hall; coordinate beverage distribution to the
check points. |
|
Finance |
Chaired by the club Treasurer. Handle
all financial operations connected with the march including cash transactions
and accounting. Volunteers should have experience in bookkeeping or
accounting. |
|
Food/Ticket Sales |
Staff and handle operation of the food
ticket sales booths; coordinate with food and drink committee to make a Bill
of Fare, which will be prepared by the signs committee. |

Food |
Arrange for and receive all food
items from vendors, coordinate distribution to check points; cook/serve food
served at start hall. |
|
Information |
Staff the information and translation
booth at the start hall. Requires knowledge of German and English. |
|
Medical |
Schedule, staff and monitor medical support
at the start hall and checkpoints. Includes coordination with Red Cross
staff. Should be someone in the Medical Profession. |
|
Membership |
Help register new members and provide
information to potential members about the Club under the guidance of Bob
Lewis. |
|
Parking |
Direct parking and control vehicle
access to start hall; monitor traffic flow; post street and highway directional
signs. Arrange for and post road guards to positions designated by local
police. Speaking German would be an advantage. |
|
Registration |
Compile club registration books and
run start card sales tables during the march. Tally club statistics after the
march. |
|
Signs |
Distribute signs to all committees
and prepare new signs upon request from committee chairpersons. |
|
Supply |
Obtain and systematically distribute
all supplies and equipment used for the march. Inventory existing supplies before
the march and submit a written inventory of supplies and equipment after the
march. |
|
Trails |
Mark the trails and monitor their
condition and status throughout the march. Clear the trails of all markings and
litter immediately after the last marchers on Sunday. |
|
Volunteers |
Develop and coordinate a system for
recruiting scheduling and using volunteer help. |
|
Werbering |
Advertise the march on weekends at other
volksmarches by distributing flyers (werbers) and providing information about the march to
other marchers. |

Ziel |
Run the IVV stamp tables and awards
distribution at the march. |
